Daly Martin Williams Architects

Wimborne, Dorset

A planning application has been submitted to East Dorset District Council for this replacement dwelling on a unique site in Colehill, Wimborne. The site already benefited from planning consent for two new dwellings to replace an existing dilapidated bungalow. Our client has built a number of well executed modern houses in the local area and has commissioned us to design a single dwelling for him and his family.

The concept has been developed in close coordination with the client, with a ground floor layout curated around a rear private terrace. The first floor consists of 4 double bedrooms and an open study space overlooking a dramatic double height void. Privacy to bedrooms is controlled with vertical louvres.

Harnessing the variable site levels, the parking and arrival courtyard is set behind a retaining wall, which acts as a support for the lightweight timber first floor ‘box’.

Following positive pre application discussions, the submission was made in April 2016.
