Bournemouth Pier
Bournemouth, Dorset

Work is nearing completion on the construction of this 250m long zipwire from the end of Bournemouth pier to a landing platform on the beach.

DMWA Chartered Architects achieved planning approval from Bournemouth Borough Council for this ambitious project in November 2013, which is set for completion in September. DMWA worked alongside Bulgarian Architects and Engineers Walltopia (www.walltopia.com ) who developed the concept, design and engineering for the tower.

The application formed part of a wider range of amusement activities planned for this local landmark

The zipline will be launched from a 17.5m platform at the end of the pier, with users enjoying a thrilling 250m ride over the water, across the beach and safely onto the landing platform, which was designed by DMWA to reflect the form of an upturned boat.

This animation (prepared by DMWA in support of the planning application) shows the route that the zipwire will take from pier to beach, you will soon be able to try it for yourselves!
