The Warehouse
Southbourne, Dorset

DMWA were approached to look at an unusual conversion project of a former glass factory in Bournemouth.

The brief required the large vaulted double storey warehouse to be converted into both living and working accommodation.

At ground floor there is storage space, a workshop, office space and a meeting room. At first floor the space was articulated into open-plan living ‘zones’ augmented further with sliding glass screens and large furniture pieces. More conventional space for the bedrooms and bathrooms were created with lightweight walling.

At roof level, accessed from a large roof light, a decked area and herb-garden was built between the roof valleys.
