Woodland Chapel
Lychett, Dorset

DMWA were asked to look at the conversion of some existing farm buildings into a Woodland Burial Chapel and associated support facilities.

The existing buildings were of high architectural quality and as a result the proposals sought to make minimal interventions resulting in a scheme which sits comfortably in its landscaped setting, whilst also creating sensitive and powerful interior spaces.

The main chapel space is bathed in light creating a powerful and symbolic focus for the scheme. Detailing is crisp with the use of regional materials used to enforce this vernacular typology.
