The Hermitage

DMW architects we appointed by Graborne Property Co Ltd  to develop a strategic masterplan for this site in Bristol.

The site is characterised by 2 dwellings which are bounded by mature trees and generous grounds. The main house is a 5 bedroomed Edwardian property with is supported by a Victorian coach house.
A sensitive conversion of the house created  3 no flats, with the coach house converted into a detached 3 bedroomed dwelling. 4 detached units where then introduced fronting Westbury Road which were designed to reflect neighbouring townhouses. 
This part of Bristol has a varied architectural language and the scheme responded in scale,  proportion and materiality to the setting.
