Planning permission granted for a new single storey dwelling in the Dorset greenbelt. Set within a small woodland clearing the new dwelling replaces a gardener’s cottage, to provides accommodation for a small family.
The simply conceived concept is configured in response to access, entry, privacy, views and solar path. A subtle shift in plan defines primary and ancillary areas, with the main living space sitting centrally with views in to an ancient woodland. Over this, an overarching structural ‘table-top’ provides a loose grid to nest and scale the various spaces within the plan.
Brick walls organise access routes and external amenity, finished with handmade, textured face bricks to give a subtle play of light across the surface throughout the day.
