Our Tolcarne project featured as the cover story on this months Grand Design Magazine. ‘A Clifftop Transformation’ article explains our successful redesign of the dated, 1980’s home near Weymouth.
The client approached us to update their 1980’s house, which was in need of modernisation; the layout did not suit the family’s needs and the design did not maximise the stunning, coastal position.
The brief was to complete an extensive refurbishment, modernisation, extension and re-modelling of the unusual split-level home, to deliver a more energy efficient home, better suited to the family’s lifestyle. A key requirement was to engage the dwelling with the surrounding landscape, the existing brick dwelling was quite ordinary and did not address the uniqueness of the site or the views out across the English Channel.
