The long-standing Lesley Shand Funeral Home in East Dorset echoed a past that needed refreshing. Answering this call, DMW Architects, engaged by FC Douch & Sons in 2015, embarked on a transformative journey to reposition the funeral complex as a contemporary yet comforting space.

Transitioning from a dimly-lit interior, the renovated structure shines with western red cedar cladding, introducing elegance and modernity. Distinctive gables enhance the facade, leading to the newly designed chapels of rest, a service chapel, and multifunctional office spaces. Vaulted internal spaces not only elevate the design but symbolise hope and reflection.
